FAQs

How do I install photoshop brushes?

  1. Download your brush. It appears as an .abr file. Save it in a new folder.
Mac: Applications > Adobe Photoshop > Presets > Brushes; PC: Program files > Adobe > Photoshop > Presets > Brushes, OR save it in your own folder, but make sure you know where it is.
  2. Double-click on the .abr file. This will automatically open Photoshop.
  3. In Photoshop, make a new file. File > New. (Dynamic Brushes provides extra-large brush sizes which
can be 2000 px or bigger. Make sure that your file size is big enough to view the brushes, eg. 2000 x 2000px.)

  4. Select the Brush Tool in the Toolbox. (Shortcut: Press “B” on your keyboard.)

  5. Open the Brushes Palette. (Window > Brushes). Note: The newly-uploaded brushes are at the bottom of the palette, you may need to scroll down. Your brush will appear as the last brush in the the palette. Select the brush, return to your canvas, choose a colour and start painting!

Note: If you are already in Photoshop and wish to upload a brush directly from Photoshop, select “Load Brushes.” This opens the Brush Preset window. Select the .abr file you want and press “Load.” Open the Brushes Palette. Click on the small button on the top right of the palette. (See arrow below.)
